We only will have to mention Joel and Ethan Coen‘s delightful 2013 film Inside Llewyn Davis (starring the brilliant Oscar Issac) to set the mood for this review of the AMP band The Finns. You know where we are going.
Equal amounts of seriousness and fun, blended in just the right way, not toppling over either side of the divide, this is what Irish Folk Roots brothers Hugh & Ciarán Finn offer us. We can also easily add catchy, addictive, and honest to that description of their songs.
As Hugh plays tenor guitar and banjo. Ciarán combines the percussive beats by accompanying them with outstanding rhythmic guitar playing and then adds harmonicas on top. The lyrics, written by both brothers, are fresh and original, and are backed up by effective chord progressions and catchy hooks. Furthermore, harmonies are a strong element of their songs and with the brother vibe, their voices strongly compliment each other.
