Dublin/Tipperary electronic duo Ghosts (Kevin Gleeson and Padraig Ryan) lure us in with their deep dark/witch house beats, steeped in late night haunting urban vibes. With support from Belfast-based Champion Sound management they released their EP entitled WLVS in 2013. The four tracks of this EP, all of which are proudly part of the AMP catalogue, each explore a different soundscape both texturally and rhythmically. Title track ‘WLVS’, tells of an urban love story through its upbeat driving tempo contrasted with a fragile and haunting vocal, whereas ‘The City’ takes a gentler approach with its softer melodies and dreamy hypnotic feel. The electronic duo carefully combine thoughtful lyrics with synth patterns to create altogether a bold sound that so effectively, and often beautifully, sets a dark, rich, entrancing atmosphere. We hope to hear more from these seriously talented Irish electronic producers again soon.
